Liza has successfully litigated and resolved employment disputes involving claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage theft, breach of contract, and covenants not to compete. She regularly represents clients in federal and state courts and in administrative proceedings before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Colorado Division of Civil Rights.
Liza also conducts independent workplace investigations into claims of discrimination and harassment and regularly advises clients regarding employment agreements, severance agreements, covenants not to compete and employee handbooks.
Liza devotes much of her practice to representing clients in complex commercial litigation in both federal and state court including derivative actions, fraud, civil theft, trade secrets, and contract disputes. In the appellate arena, Liza has briefed and argued several cases, including issues of first impression under Colorado law.
Liza has been recognized as a Super Lawyer, Rising Star, every year since 2010. When not practicing law, you can find Liza hiking or running in the Colorado mountains and spending time outside with her boys, Owen and David, and her dog, Lucy.
Representative Matters
Though past cases are not predictive, Liza’s experience includes:
• A jury victory on behalf of a digital media company in a case alleging breach of contract, civil theft, defamation and trade disparagement
• Successfully obtaining summary judgment on an age-discrimination claim in favor of a large retail company
• Successfully dismissing employees’ wage claims on a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim under Colorado’s Wage Act
• At least one trial every year since 2015
• Multiple theft of trade secret and covenant not to compete cases
